Energy Performance Certificate
As a landlord, Energy Performance Certificates are soon going to become an important part of your life. From 1 October 2008, it will be a legal requirement to give a copy of an EPC to anyone taking up a new tenancy of a property. The landlord is responsible for ensuring this is done. The good news is that the EPC will be valid for a period of 10 years. Clearly if significant work is carried out on a property then it might be in the landlords interest to have an EPC that reflects the improved energy efficiency of the property.
